Greetings valley dwellers! Turnip here, back at it again after some of that good ol off mountain rest and relaxation. Today I'm kicking it in the office, surrounded by lodge history, selling those sweet sweet coveted T-shirts. Some of you may remember when you could count on one hand the merchandise we sold. Now we have 40+ different items of LeConte Lodge swag available. Crazy right!? These items are just some of the supplies that come up on the airlift each year. Working in the office always reminds me of how old this place actually is. Our walls are covered in interesting lodge info. Fun fact, Jack Huff strapped his mother Martha to a rocking chair back in 1929 and carried her all the way up the mountain. Is that a dedicated son or what!? I know I couldn't do it. It is a little cloudy up here today but that doesn't make it any less beautiful. The birds are still singing, the flowers are still blooming, and the air is still crisp and sweet. Summer showers are in the forecast for the afternoon so, rain gear! Snorkels, floaties, goggles, etc... You know the drill! The current temperature is a light breezy 64 and the low last night was 57. Happy hiking and much love, Turnip. clouds rolling in on the mountain
