Good morning from the arctic,
Its a gorgeous morning on the mountain. The high yesterday was 21 degrees. The overnight low was a brisk 10 degrees. It was 10 degrees and clear skies at 7am observation. We received 0.07” of precipitation. We accumulated 1” of snow. Our snow depth is 1”. Hwy 441 is closed as of now so Cherokee Orchard is your access to the top. Traction devices are a must today! Sunshine will be abundant this weekend so get out and enjoy our beloved Smoky Mountains. Yesterday was a cold windy day up top with wind gusts upwards of 35 mph blowing light snow around the lodge. My run down Alum was 1 hour 17 minutes! After returning to the top I enjoyed the afternoon with my Haley Bug and we made a fabulous taco dinner with Apple and Peach cobbler for dessert. As I’m typing we are having a huge breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, eggs, and homemade bread for toast! Today will be a day for exploring the mountain! Hope y’all have a wonderful day! SEE YOU AT THE TOP! P-NUT

Hey P-Nut, I remember you from when I spent the night at the Lodge a couple years ago. Enjoy reading about Leconte.

Yum! You’re making 1,000’s sooo jealous!!! Wondering what your record time is for down and back via trillium? Thanks!

Love these pictures! We will be there in three weeks and can't wait to taste what you have in store for us in the dining room. Just a reminder that I am traveling with a person who has celiac disease, and we are hoping that you have some wonderful gluten-free options that have no possibility of cross-contamination.

Thanks for your tips! Yesterday I got traction spikes (via your tip) and today it was a LIFESAVER on the ice on Rainbow Trail. We ended our 22 mile hike day VERY thankful for this blog and your helpfulness. Happy hiking :)

P-nut you make me jealous about your time of 1 hour and 17 minutes to get down Alum. It would be impossible for me to do that. I guess that means it takes you about 21/2 to 3 hours up and down. Keep up the speed, Ha Ha.
