Good Morning,
Aside from some lingering clouds over the mountains, Ida has officially vacated the premises. In fact, we shouldn’t see a drop of liquid precip today, just some good old sunshine to help brighten everyone’s spirits. Now that a cold front has pushed through, we can finally welcome in meteorological autumn. High temps across the region will be much less oppressive than what we’ve endured in recent months, and more importantly that infamous southern humidity will be scaled back. That’s just one reason September makes for fabulous hiking weather in the Smokies. We’re starting off in the mid 50s this morning, could reach the lower 60s this afternoon, and might even dip down into the 40s this evening. The holiday forecast looks like it’ll will bring more sun and clouds, with precip chances returning by Sunday. Water levels along the creeks will continue to subside making any unbridged stream crossings much easier than yesterday. Our team can confirm that Trillium Gap is now clear of debris, important for getting our lovable llamas back in business. Have a great day.
