Good Morning,
As anticipated, we never really shook off the cloud cover yesterday. And finally during dinner service the rain let loose and drenched the mountaintop for several hours. After receiving over an inch of rainfall, trails are sure to be soggy and waterways in and around the park running a bit high. Thankfully we appear to be in for some slight reprieve today. Lodge residents this morning at waking up to a mix of sun and layered clouds with views of the valley below. It should stay that way most of the day before the rain chances return this evening. Temps will continue to spent most of their time in the 50s and winds will be light across the peaks. Friday looks like it will begin similarly to today, but higher precip percentages in the afternoon that could carry into a wet weekend. The annual “Shades of the Past” automobile extravaganza is happening in Pigeon Forge this weekend. Travelers with plans to visit the mountain coming to the park from the Tennessee side should map their routes in and out accordingly. Also be mindful of traffic congestion in school zones during the week, now that the entire nation’s education system should be back in session after the recent holiday. Have a great day.
