I knew you all wouldn't let me down. Thanks for the beautiful proverbs and poems. It is obvious, through your words, how special Mt. LeConte is to so many people. I have been asked a lot lately if Chris and I will still visit LeConte. I am not sure if people know this, but Chris and I own a home in Gatlinburg. I have called Sevier county my home since 1997. We bought a house about a mile from the Park boundary over four years ago. We love living so close to the Park. We will take advantage of our location and visit our favorite mountain as much as possible. We are also looking forward to exploring parts of the Park we have not been to in a long time.

We were lucky enough to get out to Myrtle Point yesterday.
It was a gorgeous day for a little nap at our favorite point. The mountain was busy with hikers, as I imagine today will be. The high was 64º with a low of 46º. Chris and I will be hiking off the mountain in the morning to attend the nuptials of our two favorite llama wranglers. Chrissy and Alan will be tying the knot Monday morning. I will have photos when I return. In the meantime, Ruthie is making her way back to the mountain, so you will be hearing from her soon.

Allyson and Chris will go down in the history of great site managers of LeConte Lodge. I am sure many of the past crew will go down in its history as well for some reason or other. Something that makes them stand out, good or bad. Are there any funny or memorable stories that you can share about past crew that went down in history?

Each individual who reads this blog, hikes to the lodge, or stays there, will naturally have their own particular feelings about the experience and thus many proverbs, poems, and profound statements can and will be made, each of which reflect the magical atmosphere that permeates the place ! All are worthy of mention and all have their unique perspective. The Smokies were there long before I came around and will be there log after I've gone, and the lodge should remain a viable destination, surely pleasing to all who absorb its distinctive and refreshing qualities. I can only say that: "May your heart and mind soar like the falcon when you stand on the mountain" ! G'day

Never discount the metaphysical connection you can have with a mountain. Some enrich you in ways that are almost inexplicable to those who just don't get it.

My mother and I hiked to the lodge to today. I would like pay a compliment to the workers. Especially the one that took time from his lunch to allow us to purchase the tshirts. You all are wonderful!

I have been hiking up to LeConte for years and have loved looking out from Cliff Tops over to Chimney Tops. Well today I hike up to Chimney Tops and for the first time got to see LeConte. Nice change of view and was a perfect day for a hike.
