Love it! I am so glad to high heat and humidity is over!! Looking forward to seeing the snow on Doug's mountain - I can see it, as soon as the fog lifts today.
Wow! I was surprised when I seen the picture. How beautiful!
Beautiful, been waiting since March for this.
Can't wait...will be there next week!
Is this early in the year for a first snow Allyson?
I would have loved to have been there for that first snow ! Great !
Awesome! I am leaving this weekend for a 5 day hike in the Smokies and was hoping for snow. I understand this is high up, but I hope it stays around for a while and maybe even spread out a little...! Nice pic. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the update! We live just below LeConte, but haven't been able to see the snow yet, what with all the cloud cover! Is there an on-line source of weather information from Mt. LeConte? Some of us are slightly envious of your spot to live in the world. And, I would say that we all are in awe of a 50-mile one-day hiking performance...and I thought a marathon was a long way.....
Sweet, we will be up in a couple of days, was hoping for snow but doesnt look likely now.
Bummer... cold weather stay away!! I'll be looking up at the peaks from Fontana Lake next week, where I'll be hiking and living on my boat for a week. It's supposed to be in the upper 70's later this week.
We experienced the Monday surprise at Clingmans Dome. Two hikers started at Newfound Gap and hiked to Clingmans Dome. Two of us attempted to drive to Clingmans Dome and hike down doing a key swap with the others. Unfortunately the road to the Dome was closed due to snow an ice and didn't open until about noon. Are there any doubts that nature rules over man?
Cannot wait until the end of the month. We are finally going to hike to Leconte via Alum Cave trail...
I will be up early friday morning i am bringing a friend who has never been all of the way to the top .This mountain is very special to me and i want everyone i know to share it
WOW! Awesome stuff! Thanks for posting. Curious if anyone made any turns on skis? Love to see it!

I was there with my wife for my 56th B'Day....received a nice B'Day chorus from the dinner crowd that evening. The snow was a definite B'Day surprise for us. We are confirmed for my 57th next October. Thanks to the Leconte Lodge Staff & Guests for a very memorable hike and stay in the Great Smokies!!
