In youth, before I lose any of my senses, I can remember that I was all alive, and inhabited my body with inexpressible satisfaction; both its weariness and its refreshment were sweet to me. Thoreau

Top photo: Just your typical face-melting, mind-blowing, ego-crushing beauty. Above: The magic hour!
Morning,

It was a ridiculously nice day yesterday. The high was 51 degrees. The low was 36 degrees. It was 44 and clear at observation. It looks like we'll have another beautiful, blustery day.

On the way back to camp from sunset at Cliff Tops, I noticed something unusual. As I neared one of the windy, gap sections with a lot of blowdowns, you could actually see the Earth breathing. The wind moved dead trees and root systems gently up and down with a slow tenderness. You could stand on these systems and slowly move with the earth's pulsing. This place never fails to show me something new, long as I keep my eyes open.

JP - I start each morning checking the blog. You have done an amazing job this winter with your quotes and photos! Thank you for keeping our mountain alive during these months. I hope we see you again! God Bless!

I sit at my desk in awe of the mere fact you witnessed the movement of the earth. How bone chilling and awesome to be so in tune with yourself and your environment. You have been a delight these winter months and may your travels in life inspire others as you have inspired us.

Thanks, Stephanie, for so eloquently putting in to words what we are all feeling as this majical time with JP comes to an end.

J.P.,

How is your experience with "The Big Rock Candy Mountain"? Page 73 and I cant seem to like it yet. I want to be persistent though. Let me know how you like it, please.

I am, as always, so jealous of your life... Enjoy!

On JP's reply on 1/25, he said "I use a Pentax W80 Optio."

JP, I stumbled on this blog the end of December and have been faithfully checking it every night before bed. The hubs and I refer to it as my "daily dose of LeConte". Thank you for the wonderful photos and daily happenings over the last 2 months! I only hate I didn't stumble across the blog sooner! Best of luck on your future endeavors, and as I'm sure you can tell from the numerous comments you will be missed! God Bless!
