So Many Things to See

The Grass of Parnassus is out in full force. We received word from one of the Park's plant specialists that this is a particularly great year for the amazing flowers. If you have not ever seen one in person, you should get your hiking boots and make a trip up the mountain to take a peek. They are blooming on Boulevard trail, Trillium trail, and the top of Alum Cave trail. I was also asked if the monks hoods were still in bloom. They are. I would suggest getting up here soon, I don't think they will be around much longer.

Chris and I hiked down on Sunday to meet up with Chris's sister. We brought our nieces and nephew back up the mountain for a night. It was great to get to share the mountain with our family. They had a blast running and exploring the mountain. We took them salamander hunting. That was so much fun, they had to go back and say goodbye to their little friends when they left the next morning.

I had the opportunity to spend Monday night at the lodge and enjoy in person the beautiful sunset and following sunrise that you posted earlier. Wonderful weather to compliment the wonderful experience we always have at the lodge. Special thanks to Chrissy, our Cincinnati connection, for great service and conversation. Due to my brothers knee injury she recommended taking Trillium down instead of Alum. It took about 6 painful hours but he made it.

Thank you so much for letting me know about the Monks Hood! I'm hiking Saturday...so hopefully I'll see them before they're completely gone. GORGEOUS photos of the Grass of Parnassus blooms! :)

Sorry for the previous "false" reply! Grass of Parnassus is my favorite wildflower in all the park. It looks like painted porcelain. I'm glad to know the flower in full bloom and prolific this year! I'm hiking up Monday for a 1-night stay and look forward to seeing G of P on the trail!

Wow, what a beautiful flower photo! I have never seen that particular flower, but it's now on my list. The detail on it is almost surreal.

How absolutely beautiful!!! Also, makes me happy to see children enjoying nature. I hiked to LeConte in July with two of my grandsons ages 9 and 10 and they absolutely loved it.
