He rose from where he lay on the ground, and though perplexed as to how she came to be there he longed to hold her and went to do it, but three times as he reached his arms to her she fogged through them, vague and flickery and grey. The fourth time, though, she stood firm and substantial and he held her tight. He said, I've been coming for you on a hard road. I'm never letting you go. Never. Charles Frazier, Cold Mountain
Morning,

It turned into a nice day up top. It was stormy in the morning, then cleared up around 1. The high was 41. The low was 31. It was 37 and clear at observation. The mountain received .57" of rain yesterday. It looks like it'll be another nice day. The trails should be very wet with all the rain we've had lately.

With the loss of my father inb law Sunday I come to this site to see the glory of God and all HIS great work in nature. This is also a healing site as well as beautiful and breath taking.

Just wanted to agree that yes this is a healing blog. For me, I check in each day read posts, sit here in awe of the pictures, and use them to imagine me making it up that mountain one day. It gives me encouragement so I can keep exercising here and get in shape for a very rewarding hike one day. I want to lose 100 pounds. So thank you for your words and for the view up there from your eyes. Blessings!

Aimee, blessings to you also! Many have lost those lbs. & you can too! I too need to lose some lbs. so my old knees can take me up & down the Leconte trails this Sept. Our goal is both worthy & achievable!

Aimee, I was just wondering if you are local & if you do any hiking now? I could spare to lose a 100 pounds too but luckily have been to Leconte 2x in the past 4 months. So don't lose faith!

Sorry, no not local. I'm a hoosier. But walking here as weather permits. We can do it! And I'm clinging onto faith for sure. Knuckles turning white....

Good Luck Aimee!! Just like Forest Gump, keep walking and don't stop. Couldn't see any Northern Lights in Mi., too overcast.

You know you can see Cold Mountain from the "lawn" in front of Ice Water, or from the ridge along Mt Kephart;
