Absolutely breathtaking photos. We love that you're giving us a chance to see the sights we love of the summer and fall in a new perspective. Don't think I'd ever be brave enough to attempt a winter hike up. You have become the highest ranking Super Hero in our house...we call you Mountain Man:)

I LOVE the pics!! I look forward to seeing what my screensaver for the day will be from your daily pictures. It gives me a 'mini-vacation' every time I look at it, & that's a lot of lookin' since I'm at my desk all day.
Thank you Alex for doing a great job in keeping the daily post going!(plus I get a daily lesson in learning a foreign language!) How do you say 'snow covered mountains' in German? (or is this Swedish or Dutch?)

Hey Alex, those pictures are great. I was there on the morning of 12/8/10 at the shelter. You may have seen me and another hiker looking around the lodges. We weren't looking for an open lodge, however, we were looking for some water and neither of us could find the water indincated by the sign. We both had to hike out with no water. I'm very envious of you being able to stay there all winter and get these incredible views.

Thanks once again. "Our" 4 AT (2 couples) hikers called from Clingman's Dome after getting back on the trail. Headed to Fontana Dam.

Would it be OK to share your beautiful website on my facebook page? I and many of my friends are frequent hikers to Mt. LeConte. The Alum Cave trail is a fovorite!

Here are some answers for some of the questions.

First of all Mark- if you come back up the mountain, the spring is located about 10 yards down Trillium Gap trail.

as for the camera that is being used- it is your basic Cannon point and shoot.

And Charlotte- you can put a link on your facebook page to this site.

Thanks for reading.

Moin Moin,

sehr gelungene Fotos. Reflexionen in Wolken, zum richtigen Zeitpunkt am richtigen Ort.
Hoffe, dass ich im nächsten Spätherbst wieder dort sein werde.

Viel Spaß!

Well -- the lodge might be closed -- and you might have a few days to get in town -- but do not be surprised when lots of hikers make it up this winter--- some people around here love to hike in the snow----- you will meet a huge group of people on new years that hike the trail every year!!! Love the pictures----- we live here-----
