I learned to play mind games when I had a long stress on the mountain and most of those days were socked in. I started hanging pictures, tapestries, and stained glass in the shape of the sun. Even on this foggy morning the sun is still peeking thru my window. Chris and I packing up to hike down. Time for a little r&r. We have been on the mountain for 33 days straight. I am ready for some city time. Sushi here I come. The days have started getting cooler. The high yesterday was 65 with a low of 50. If you are heading up, make sure to bring some warmer layers for the evening. Keep checking back, the blog will continue to be updated with the weather and other exciting news from the mountain.

On my way from London, KY where I live to Harlan, Ky where I work I heard that ther'd been another slide on Highway 441 in the Park and that the route was closed at Sugarlands; with Rainbow, Trillium, and Bullhead going to be closed for a time, how will this slide affect guests getting to the Alm Trail ?

There was a rock slide on hwy 441 last night. It is on the North Carolina side. The Park Service is working hard to get the road open this morning. The only people it will effect are the ones coming over the mountain this morning.

Have a great time on your days off. I knew with all of the many wonderful daily posts that the two of you were way overdue for some time off. Enjoy!

I remember years ago when there was a major slide on the Tennessee side of Rt 441 through the Park, somewhere above the Alum Cave Trailhead and I suppose that when I hear of a slide I assume it could be in that area. Comments are closed.
