Supply Day

10/29/2010

Picture
Today is a resupply day for the mountain. We have been so busy this year, we are running out of supplies. Hopefully the clouds will clear and the helicopter will be able to deliver a load of goods that will get us thru until the end of the season. We are clear up top, but we have to be able to see Sevierville. As you can see from the photo, there is a sea of clouds below us. It is a cold morning this morning. The low last night was 26. The high yesterday was 54. I will keep you posted on wether or not we get our helicopter delivery.

Allyson, how come you have to be able to see Sevierville?

The airport is located in Sevierville. The pilot has to have a clear visual of the mountain for safety purposes.

My group is hiking up tomorrow morning (Saturday), and we can't wait. Will be staying over until Monday, and the weather forecast looks good for that entire time frame. I also hope that you get your supplies, especially if you are running low on wine!

Wow what a pic! It almost looks like a huge lake surrounded by pine trees. Can't imagine what it must look like from up top and above the clouds. Wish I were there to await the supply copter. I'll have to ask my daughter if she ever incurred the "above the clouds" thing when she crewed there. Once again thanks for a great picture.

That is a great picture! It looks like an ocean beyond the trees! Every season, every type of weather is more beautiful from the top of Mt. LeConte.

Beautiful photo. We have been so blessed with seeing this type of view ourselves on a couple of our visits up the mountains. It is amazing to be above the clouds. Best wishes to all of you. Allyson, get in touch when y'all get off the mountain. We look forward to spending time with y'all during the off season.

Beautiful picture! I lived at 4300ft in Western NC for 9yrs. I saw this scene so many times and never grew tired of it. The Smokey Mts are absolutely beautiful no matter what time of year.
