Sweet Dreams Are Made of This

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn."- John Muir

Yesterday was what dreams are made of. The high was 64 and it was a gorgeous day to go for a hike. We took a stroll down Trillium for a couple of miles. The flowers up top were in full glory. The sun was shining and warmed our faces. The trail was quiet and we listened to the sounds of nature. We did see two of our guests who were staying two nights. They decided to take a hike to Brushy Mountain and eat their lunch. Not a bad place for a picnic. Beats any views you could get in Gatlinburg. The days are getting cooler. My favorite time of the year is right around the corner. Our low temperatures have been in the mid 40s. Remember, if you are coming up to stay overnight, bring some warmer clothes to wear at night.

Allyson, will we still see flowers along the trail when we hike up to the Lodge on Sept. 11th? We plan to hike up Trillium Gap Trail.

You've given me a place to retreat to the next time I come up: going down Trillium and having a lunch at that Brushy Mountain lookout; I don't know why I hadn't thought of that possibiliity before as I usually hike out to Myrtle Point to bask in the sun, etc., or lazily recline in a rocker ! Yes, the anticipation of cooler weather has gotten me stirred up to get in some needed hiking. Have a good weekend up there folks !

I thought about JP when I saw that title this morning. And, I immediately heard Annie Lennox in my head.
