_Morning,
It's already a beautiful day. The forecast is looking good, too. The high yesterday reached 47 degrees (it felt even warmer in the sun!) and the low was 25 degrees. It was 30 degrees and clear at 7am observation. I had a wonderful, lazy day around camp yesterday. I really enjoyed soaking in the sun and making some progress on 'The Tiger's Wife' (thanks Alice!). Special thanks to Lindi for hiking me up some much appreciated New Belgium Snow Day Ale. I got up around 2am and watched the Geminids from a nice, open spot. They were pretty spectacular. I counted 44 shooting stars in between bouts of dreamy sleep. I'd wake up, feel the shock of cold air on my face and have the immediate comfort of happy memories under the stars warm me. Then I'd remember who I am, where I am and how I'm supposed to be watching for meteors. That made me feel even better.

I thought about you last night tucked away in your sleeping bag watching the show. I too got up a few times to see if I could catch a shooting star, but I could only stay awake about 20 seconds and it was lights out. But I did hear quite a few people seeing them. How neat. Love the heart shape rock. Its the simple things in life.

I was wrapped in a blanker on the patio and saw several meteors. However, the temperature was less than 30 and I would go inside every 10 minutes to warm up. Missed the meteor shower in October due to cloud cover.

Has anyone ever watched the 4th of July fireworks from the Lodge? We are thinking about hiking up this year to watch them. If you have pics, please provide link.

Brian, we have reservation for that night. I'm hoping for no cloud cover or 6 inches of rain like last Aug. when we were up there. Couldn't ask for a better night to be up there. I'm just trying to find a place to stay for a couple days before. My husband wants a cabin, my son doesn't care. And I just want to be close to Gatlinburg so I can walk and not battle traffic.

Walking the dog at midnight Indiana, saw two meteors and thought of you on the mountain doing the same! Comments are closed.
