Yesterday was a perfect fall day. Blue sky and crisp, cool air. Something about that kind of weather gives me so much energy. I guess that is a good thing since the colder weather makes me want to curl up under a blanket and read a good book. The high was 59 with a low of 43. The nights are getting colder. Today we are looking at thick cloud coverage. It will probably move out by noon. We are supposed to have some amazing weather ahead of us. If you don't have plans to get out in the park this weekend, you should make some. It is perfect hiking weather.

I will be staying in the shelter Sunday night. This will be my second trip up. This time I am bringing my daughter for her first hike (of any kind). I really enjoy your posts and website. I am from West Tennessee and the weather updates help alot.

Looks like the leaves are turning at Purchase Knob -- but not so much at Look Rock. What's the status on LeConte?

I so wish I could hike to my favorite place! Unfortunately I live here in Missouri and I have to settle for the trails here. I do plan on hiking Saturday though. I wish the weather would stay somewhat warm for just alittle bit longer!

We are headed that way Nov. 1. It can't come soon enough. Trails in FL stink and are too buggy! GSM = relaxation...for real! The last time I walked on LeConte was in 1987, and I turned around at the cave bluffs. But two weeks from today I am hiking all the way to the top and staying in the shelter, and following your posts in recent weeks has me so excited I can barely stand the anticipation! Me and my friends will see you soon... Comments are closed.
