Allyson is experiencing difficulty getting online this morning so she asked the office to provide a quick post.
The low and current temperature is 27. They are socked in and a heavy frost is starting to develop and coat everything with a layer of ice. This is causing it to be very slick on the paths around the Lodge and will make the trails near the top tricky if it continues. There is also a possibility of snow forecast for tonight (hopefully not the surprise 12 inches like last week).

Spring, you're out there, right? I can understand those little aggravating technical difficulties for my new laptop has given me reason to wonder in the last two days. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a "lemon". I looked at an IPad Mini yesterday but I am not sure as to its capabilities just yet; need more study on this and advice, etc. I hope the weather up on the mountain isn't causing too many problems now. I may make it up in about a week. g'day

I hope everyone is safe up top. I hiked from Newfound Gap to Clingmans Dome today and what started out as a simple fog turned into heavy hoar frost accumulations and SERIOUS wind and cold at Clingmans. It was like I stepped onto another planet....crazy. Did not expect that in April!!!! Stay dry and warm up there ya'll !!!! Three of us did the loop today up Cammerer via Groundhog Ridge going up and A.T. and Low Gap going down. At the top we were socked in and the wind was blowing pieces of ice out of the trees. Lower down we saw many kinds of violet, hepatica, sweet white trillium, trout lily, bloodroot, anemones, foamflower, wild oats, and bloodroot. Two different worlds!
