Weather forecast for today is clear is sunny???? The crew were all grumbling as they awoke to a mountain swathed in clouds. The picture below is the view from this morning.

This is a prime example of why it is so hard to predict the weather for the mountain. It also explains why I tell people to prepared for anything. They don't call the soutern appalachians a temperate rainforest for nothin'.

The temperatures are still very comfortable during the day. The high yesterday was 60 with a low of 44. Hopefully the clouds will roll out of here and we will be graced with a little sunshine for the afternoon.

Weather forecast..cloudy to partly cloudy with sunny skies, no rain in the forecast with rainfall amounts up to 4 inches possible,high today 30- 65 with lows in the 15-55. Listen closely,"come prepared"

Going to take "prep" hike tomorrow. Hiking to the Len Foote Hike Inn then over to the Appalachian Approach Trail then back to Amicalola Falls. About 11 miles. Temps in the low 70's in the morning. Should make for a good conditioning hike before our day hike to LeConte in Oct.

I saw this promotion on facebook for an ATC fund raiser. Glad to see that it is coming to Cincinnati in Oct 25th. Check for a city near you.

When I first looked at your picture, I thought Brrr, cold. Just makes me want to put on a sweatshirt and go in one of those cozy cabins and turn the heat up.

Good idea Debi; I love the photos of the fog; I believe that the lodge has been fogged in several times when I've arrived and the first thing I wanted was a hot cup of cocoa.
