Good you are up and running. I was really having withdrawal. The old bones won't make it up anymore so I have to get my fix through the blog.

Occasionally, but not that often, I meet someone right here in London, KY that has been to the Lodge or knows a little about it. I met such a person a few days ago, one that had heard of it. He asked me how one got up there. ( ! ) I said: you hike up. His response was rather negative. I believe that the accepted view by the non-hiker is that hiking is complex, difficult, and inherently frustrating. I just don't buy that.

Doug, I once told a colleague that I was taking a vacation. She asked about it, and I said we are going to hike about 7 miles or so up this steep mountain, carrying our supplies, and then spend the night without a shower or electricity. I still recall what she said: "you call THAT a vacation?!?"
Some folks just don't get it; if you have to explain, then you really can't.
