The Bobcat is Looking For JP

4/2/2014

Hey JP, I found your bobcat.
Has spring arrived up top? I sure hope so. If yesterday was any indication, I would say, yes. The high was 57º with a low of 40º. The snow is melting in the areas where the sun hits the ground. The shaded areas are going to take a while. With that being said, the trails are going to be in the same condition. The shaded areas are going to be covered in ice. Hikers have been on Rainbow, Bullhead, Alum Cave and Boulevard trails. The llamas will be attempting to come up Trillium today. The trails are going to be slick in places. We have had a large number of families make it up over the past couple of days. The kids did just fine. In fact, I think it is safe to say, they enjoyed themselves. They all seemed to be in good spirits and had plenty of energy to enjoy the mountaintop when they got here. My advice is take your time and be careful of your footing and you should be just fine.

I am sure you are going to ask why there is a Bobcat on the mountain. We are doing some general maintenance on the water lines. The helicopter dropped it off and will pick it back up when they are all done.

While this page often inspires me... today was all about information, and most importantly, entertainment. THIS is a funny picture and headline. Allyson, can you show us a picture of bobcat tracks in the snow since that's all JP could ever show us...

Now... JP didn't say the footprints of his bobcat were that big! I'm glad to see that maybe Spring IS coming after all. And hopefully the Polar Vortex things are done for this year!

It does exist! No wonder JP never saw it; it only comes out in the spring.

There's so much work the public never sees. How often is this type of work needed and what's the estimated time to complete such a project?

Don't dig to deep you will not find JP because he is in the beautiful White Mountain of New Hampshire.

Awh, I miss LeConte already. Although the deep snowpack in the Whites is keeping me busy! I've been snowshoeing around above treeline... I probably won't see bare ground for another month!! Thanks for sharing, Allyson!

Water line maintenance was exactly what I figured when I saw the image of the Bobcat. (Yes, I'm lying.)

Here's hoping the llamas successfully made their first trip to the summit, today.

I remember the Bobcat from several seasons ago, when we flew it off it came within a couple of feet of destroying the Ritz. It was before we built the storage building and the pilot picked it up from right below the office. Good luck and be safe up there !

Now that is funny, only would be funnier if Dave and Gomer were in the picture. HA!
