We are loving the weather up here!
68/46 were our temps for yesterday and you can really tell fall is on its way. Keep an eye out for bears while hiking up and take time to admire the grassus Parnassus down on Trillium and Alum. This is the last month that the ACE crew and trail crew will be hanging out up here! They will still be working on the rail though, If you see them give them a big thank you! llamas on Friday!

Do you have an exact date the trail crew on Alum will be finished ? Have reservations for the 26th and would really like to use Alum and see the improvements. By the way, love the posts lately. Thanks

I have often wondered about the names of some of our favorite places in the Smokies. High Top?!? Is that the best they could do? It IS a high top, but still...........where the magical creativity of a more interesting name. Cliff Tops is another one that I think, gee, whoever named it that, simply lacked any kind of imagination.

I hope you are having some of that crisp, cool bluebird weather when we come up in late October! Late October though there could be snow or ice. We hiked up prepared for it last October. Last month for the trail crew.....does that mean Alum will be open during the week next month?? Have a beautiful rest of your week!

We checked with the National Park and they still plan to have the trail closed Monday-Thursday until November 17. The work at the top is almost complete, so they no longer need to stay up top. They will continue work on the lower portion while staying in the valley.
