The Office

8/9/2011

Picture
We seem to have a weather pattern happening. We awake to clouds and dark skies and then they start to lift. Yesterday turned out to be another sunny day up top. We have clouds in the morning, sun in the afternoon, and rain in the early evening. The dark, early mornings are starting to put my "happy light" use into overtime. I thought I would share a picture of my office. As you can see, my false sunshine is right next to my computer. As I update "High On LeConte", I can get my fix of fake sun light.

Today is starting out the same way the past week has. Cloudy and windy. Let's hope this weather pattern continues and we get to the see the sun again today. The temps are getting cooler. Night lows are still in the mid 50's. The high yesterday was 73.

Hi Tom,
It is a Verilux and I think my husband bought it from Amazon.

I had wondered about your 'office'; From the fog I see out your window I can understand your desire for the light; I was up early this morning sipping coffee on my back porch with my old Tomcat and the gentle breeze coming through made me feel like I was up at the lodge enjoying the atmosphere there; well, almost anyway; I was still wondering how many different kinds of berries grow in the area of the lodge; I know of several patches along the A.T. whenever I get on it and always enjoy pausing and filling myself, especially with blueberries; Have a great day, Allyson.

I would trade my office window view for yours anytime! I'd much rather see & hear your mountain's wildlife ....trees,flowers, hanging clouds & quietness rather than my city view & noise of cement, cars, sirens, light poles & dumb city pigeons.
Your window view would make my day much better!

What a contrast the oil lamp adds to the picture, thanks for making our day!

Thanks Debbie,
I didn't even think of that when I took the photo. I guess what you don't see is the car battery that is operating the "happy light". As for the different berries. We have blueberries and blackberries up top. And yes, I do love my "office" view.

I agree with Nancy205, except I don't have a window in my office. The only glass we have is the front door and my office is about halfway down the hallway. Still love the pictures you post each day. I can pretend they are my windows.

I meant to say in my comment this morning that this jail where I work is windowless and the photos you post help remind me that there's some beautiful scenery out there. In fact, I make a different photo of yours my desktop background each week. G'night.

Allyson, I LOVE the interesting composition of this picture!!! It really tells a story about life on LeConte as a full time staffer. Yes, I would love that view also- my office in an urban building has no window at all. However, I am thankful everyday that I have a job...it pays for my trips to the Smokies!

I also love the foggy view from your office window and thanks for the info on what your lamp and computer were hooked up to, I've read from your blog that ya'll operate on solar polwer so I am also impressed by the car battery hook up too, and I also took notice of the oil lamp...hope you get some "real" sunshine soon!

Be aware, you can buy full spectrum CFL lamps for significantly less cost than a specialty light, at your local big-box store. (for example: Home Depot Model #ES5M827FS, $8 shipped)
