The Prize Pancakes

5/4/2013

Picture
Yesterday turned out to be a nice day. The mountain was covered in day hikers. The llamas made their trip up only to discover our resident deer was not too worried about them. They were a little concerned she was going to go after their pancakes. Her presence was noted and, as you can see by their ears, they were on guard. The good news is she left their food alone and stuck to her native plants.

The weather is looking a bit sinister. The wind is currently howling through camp and acting as  the morning wake up call. The rain has not started, but judging by the looming clouds, it is on its way. Chris did manage to get a good shot of sunrise this morning.

Yesterday's temperatures were 53º and a low of 32º.

One more thing to pass along. Don't forget that we do have an online store on our website. You can go to https://www.lecontelodge.com/store/  purchase some cool items that are NOT available on the mountain. The same goes for the "I Hiked It" shirts, they are NOT available on the website. This is your chance to purchase a cool tie die shirt or some other LeConte branded items.

The brown lama looks lonely.

My guys were up there last night- so glad it was a beautiful day yesterday. I suspect they will not linger on the mountain this morning! Thank you for the wonderful pictures that capture the essence of LeConte Lodge. Great memories, wish the knee replacement had worked out better so I could see it for myself again!

Beautiful sunrise this morning. I laid in bed and watched my come up. Just pink, not so red as that one. Pretty!

Amazing sunrise photo. What beautiful colors! As for the Llama's and the deer, how funny! They're not sharing their pancakes! I wouldn't either.

I'm guessing that deer would have been no match for herd of carbo-loading Llamas.

Allyson was right, the wind was "howling" on the mountain this morning. I went up Alum early in hopes of not getting too much rain and the wind was a blowing and the fog/clouds shrouded the mtn in such beauty as only they can. I was amazed that there was no rain until around 1030am and then only a very light rain.

Hiked up Friday and down this morning. Friday's weather was perfect for hiking.......the clouds rolled in about 5:00pm....no sunset ... :( The wind was howling all night and all the way down this morning until we got to Alum Cave. Thanks again crew for a wonderful stay, wonderful food and for sharing the mountain with us....see ya next year if not before!!!
