Tornado

2/2/2011

High 37, Low 29.
1.4 " of Rain

Wow, I've never seen it so windy up here, They were predicting 100 Mph Winds up here, I don't know how strong they were but it sure felt like it. I hiked down rainbow and up bullhead Yesterday, I couldn't walk at points on bullhead coming back up yesterday because of the wind, just kneel and wait for it to slow. There were branches and leaves just flying by a 100ft up in the air constantly. It was really nuts, I seen it pick up the sledge hammer set on the porch and move it down the hill towards the spring. The trails are pretty easy to hike right now, a lot of snow has melted, but where there is snow it is really icy and slushy. The boulevard was broken by some guys this past weekend, up here there is 14" of snow on the ground still, you'll still be stepping deep in snow throughout the trail some. But, really it didn't feel much like winter anymore hiking yesterday, bullhead only had snow the last 1.5 mile or so. Sounds like a heck of a storm up north though, honestly, I wish I was seeing some of it up here :)
Looks like the groundhog isn't going anywhere.
Yup, I Made it to Barley's the other weekend, It was a lot of fun, Though I didn't take home the prize, It was good being in the presence of some superior beards.

Alex, Once again thanks for the awesome pics!! As far as the weather goes, I'm sure you will see lots more snow on the mountain, it is only the 2nd of Feb! Where I am in KY this storm has missed us for the most part. We did get a little freezing rain but that was it!(this time anyway!!) I'm sure we will see more snow before spring!! Hold on to your hat!!!

WOW, sounds exciting. If you ever get a chance to shoot a short video of some of that kind of weather up there, I would sure love to see it. As they say...hunker down!

Alex! Thank you for all the updates. How long did take you to do the loop on Rainbow-Bullhead? Thanks

Here in central Ohio we have over an inch of ice, snow, sleet mixture on top of 4 inches of old snow. Now its snowing on top of that. 45 minutes north they have over 6 inches of snow then that mixture on top of it plus there old snow. 45 minutes south its all ice from freezing rain with lots of power outages. Can't even think of cleaning the drive because that mixture is solid! To top it off the wind is 30-40 MPH. Nothing like on top the mt. though!! Everyone stay safe out there and thanks for the wonderful pics. I check them daily and my students also enjoy them. Buckeye Chuck says spring is around the corner. Which corner is that?? Come on spring!!

Hi Alex, You are doing such a great job on your blog. Ronnie Holbert forwards the website to me. I am a good family friend of the late Ed Wright's family. He would have been forwarding your blog to us. Thank goodness that some of us have Ronnie Holbert. Hopefull we all will have a chance to meet!

Good grief! 100 mph winds are not enough? You want 2 ft of snow as well? I know some folks in Chicago who would love to trade places with you for a while. You must REALLY love winter weather!!!
