This is the latest information on trails leading to LeConte Lodge.
Rainbow and Bullhead trail are closed. They were open for the weekend and will close on Monday for continuing road work. Grotto Falls trail head ( Trillium Gap trail ) is closed until sometime in May. Boulevard trail still has quite a bit of snow and downed trees on the trail. It is highly recommended to not take this trail. Alum Cave trail is open and the conditions are getting better every day. There are still a few spots of ice along the trail. The current warmer weather and rain should help melt some of the snow and ice.

Thanks for all the helpful information and a BIG THANKS to the crew for working on the trail. Hope to come up Friday if Alum Cave is in fairly good shape. Do you know how the parking has been?

Just got back from our stay at LeConte with a group of 20 (most were first-timers; we're the big group shown outside the dining lodge on today's guest sightings page). As always the crew was friendly and helpful and accommodating, the food was great and the views were tremendous - in other words, not much changes, in a good way. We went up and down Alum. Saturday the parking was moderately tight - no lined spaces available; just a handful of cars along the roadside. Saturday was picture-perfect LeConte - cool but not freezing, sunny and clear. Didn't really need Yaktrax on the trail but not a bad idea to have some sort of ice cleats and/or trekking poles. Saturday night as Allyson mentions the wind was tremendous. Woke up Sunday to continued wind and quite a bit of rain - yaktrax were really helpful on the bluffs when gusts hit. All the newbies we brought were won over - look for a return group trip sometime next year. Best wishes.

My anticipation is building for my trip to the lodge ! One week from now I'll be having my first breakfast; such a pleasure to look forward to; from weather forecasts I've seen it appears that conditions may be favorable, but that can certainly change; hope this past weekend was a good one for everybody and that the snow continues to melt; sure enjoy this site !
