It was a fabulous day for a hike yesterday. The temperature was in the mid sixties with bright blue skies. The egg hunt was fun. Chris and I decided watching the crew hunt in the dark with headlamps was quit amusing. I think we may have started a new tradition. Today is supposed to be another pretty day, so far we are socked in.

Hi Allyson and Chris,

I love keeping up with you guys and mountain via this site. The pictures are great and I really miss being up there.
I got married about 2 years ago, and am looking at applying for a reservation to get the two of us up for a couple of nights. Will look forward to seeing you guys when we make it. I am also looking at a day hike at some point in the near future.
I didn't see Henry's photo in the crew...did something happen to him? I have not heard from him since I told him I got married....was just curious.

Keep up the great work with the photos...they are EXCELLENT!

Much love, Trixie

Great pictures Allyson. But, I think it is sad that we Ohioians are looking at this site for fantastic pictures of sunny days.

It may be all rain in Ohio and Kentucky, but let's not forget it was just last week that Allyson was posting frost pictures!!!

Trixie,
I don't know why Henry left LeConte, but after two decades he simply vanished. Some might say he was tired of the whole thing, others might say it was because he received a call from a close acquaintance of his who said she had gotten married. Not, "I'm GOING to get married," but more of the "it is done" variety. I can't possibly know whether that's what drove him off the mountain or not, but it would explain why he hadn't called back, now wouldn't it? Alternatively "Trixie, darling, I wish you had spoken with ME before running off with Rupert, I thought we had something". How would THAT play out? Not well, I say, not well at all.

Enough of all of that. If you choose to day hike in the next couple of weeks, Brushy Mountain has to awesome about now. The path between Trillium Gap and Brushy Mountain is blooming about now.

If you can't get to it that quickly, then wait for a nice day and head to Charlies Bunion. Awesomatic!

Wow - it's amazing how many Buckeyes visit this site! As far as plans for a boat - anybody know how to measure a cubit?

Were all the eggs found or will you smell the faint stench of rotten eggs in a few days?

A cubit is the distance from a mans middle finger tip to his elbow.

Yes, Diane, all of the eggs were found. I had a few giggles watching adults hunt around with headlamps, trying to find the eggs.
