I thought I would share with you how our weather recordings work. I included a picture of our weather station. We read the weather every morning and call it in the National Park. They then report it to the National Weather Service. The thermometers in the white box produce an accurate temperature reading. We have a thermometer on the porch of the office, this thermometer is in the sun, so it is not an accurate reading. There has been some miscommunication about a record high on July 25th. We recorded the temperature as 76 degrees. It has NOT reached 80 degrees on Mt. LeConte. I am sorry for the confusion and hope you will trust me when I say that as soon as it hits 80 degrees the whole world will know.

By the way, this doesn't relate to the weather station article, which I liked, but to the plight of Woody the Llama. I had not heard anything about this animal, getting only bits of info from the comment section here. Can you tell me what happened to him? Did he get sick from the heat? What was his problem and how was it handled? Very curious here to find out what happened. Thanks in advance.........if you get the time!
