Chris and I got out for a stroll around the mountain yesterday. It was a gorgeous day up top. The sand myrtle was hanging on and the rhododendron is getting ready to show its brilliant display. We were talking about our future trip down the mountain, which is today. We are super excited to be hiking down to attend the nuptials of our own Courtney and Beau. They will be getting married on top of Max Patch. Chris is getting a little nervous, since they asked him to perform the wedding. Yes, thanks to the internet, he is licensed. Don't worry, I will be taking a lot of photos to share with you all. On to the next story. I know you all saw the photo of Chris sending down his weed eater. You will be happy to know, it has been replaced with a professional model. He had to do a day hike down on Friday to get some supplies. While he was down he swung by the co-op and picked up his new toy. He had a lovely hike up the mountain, bonding with his new weed eater. It took him one morning to cover the same amount of camp as it would usually take three mornings. He was like a kid in a candy store. Men and their toys! On our trip around the mountain, we stopped to check our little chicks. They are doing great. I am sure they will be out of the nest by the time Chris and I come back from days off. Maybe I will find another nest to watch when I get back.
I am super excited to be heading to down today. After the wedding, Chris and I will be flying to Arizona to meet our newest family members. My sister had triplets and I have not gotten to meet them yet. I can not wait to hold little Evie, Ruby, and Stevie. This is fun packed week down. I am sure I will need a rest when I return to work. In the meantime, Nathan will take good care of you. Happy hiking and see you in a week.

Have a good time. Fun to enjoy 3 babies at once. My sister has twin 7 year olds. Fun to enjoy them and lucky enough to go home after. :)

Anybody who bonds with a weedeater needs his head examined. :-) He REALLY needs some days off. Happy Father's Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Pops out there. Steve D. if your out there, we plan on making a hike on the morning of July 5th up Alum about 0830hrs weather permitting. Anyone else going up at that time let me know, we'll have a trail party and see who can get out of breath first Ha Ha. Too bad there are no mountain goats to take the place of that weed eater.

I will be coming down the mountain while your coming up. I will be wearing purple hiking boots and chasing 2 guys running down. Well, they don't run, but they walk too fast.

Morning All, Steve D yes we are coming in on the 4th, but 11-1/2 hours and 750 miles will not allow me to get there early enough for that. We will be able to see the fireworks from our motel room balcony at the River house at the Park. Friday morning though, after breakfast at the Pancake Pantry we should be on the trail for about 0830-0845 hrs.

Chris passed me as I was on the way down from overnight. And then while I waited for other members of the party to arrive to complete the car ferry up to Newfound Gap saw him in the parking lot loading up the weed eater for the return trip. Pretty amusing. Can't imagine the comments he got from folks he met on the trail.
