"Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night." ~Rainer Maria Rilke The trillium are blooming on the mountain. The few we have around the lodge are coming to life. Chris and I hiked down Trillium trail a little way and found a ton of trillium in full bloom. It is invigorating to see the shrubs and trees coming to life on the top. The warm days of summer are so close.

Sandi, there are trillium reds..I have some I planted from seeds I bought in Gatlinburg about 15 years ago. There are also white and someone said yellow but I've not seen any yellow. Not sure if there are other colors or not. 5/9/2011 06:15:22 am
I go twice per year to the Smokies with my husband and his male relatives. They fish and I hike/walk. Weekend before Mother's Day, I saw, listed and took pictures of 98 wildflowers, many of them Trilliums. Erect, sweet white and 2 painted. Yellows are rare. I've seen them only once.
