I just want to take a minute to say thank you for all of the wonderful ideas that were posted on the blog yesterday. I will take these ideas to the powers that be. This will give us some homework for the winter.
This morning is starting off on a blustery note. I was wondering if I was going to wake up in Oz. The temperatures have warmed up. The high yesterday was 47º with a low of around 38º. Someone asked about the snow forecast for the weekend. I will explain how we predict our weather, if that is even possible. When I see rain in the forecast and the temperatures for the lower elevations are in the 40s, I can usually estimate we will be 15 to 20 degrees colder. That would usually make it cold enough for our precipitation to turn to snow. That is not always the case. Sometimes we are in an inversion and we are actually warmer then the valley. This being the reason I always suggest to come prepared for anything. The weather for the weekend is calling for rain and lower temperatures. If I was a bettin' girl, I would say we will see some snow.

If you get some substantial snow this weekend, I'm sure JP will be pleased. :)

Today's pic looks like the outside here in Kokomo...dark,overcast and cold, rainy just to name a few adjectives. If not for the hot choc awaiting arrivals it would be downright dreary for the would-be hiker. Fascinating to see the contrasts between black/white pics and color. Know you and the crew time is limited now and I wanted to say how much I've enjoyed all the posts and information you provide as well as the awesome pics and your hospitality when I was there in September. Already looking forward to next year's trip plus the winter caretaker's informative comments this winter so I can get my LeConte fix. Good luck to all the crew as they leave so many people's favorite mountain.

Will, I am sorry to say you will need to hike some up if you want some in January. We will be closing the on the 27th of November. There are no day hiker services during the winter months.

The link to the online store will not work, what is the problem or do you know of one.

Adria, the link worked fine when I tried it a minute ago. I am not sure what the issue might be.

I think this is the night Brian and family stayed up there. You tell them I hope they enjoy their breakfast in the morning and have a safe trip down, from Debi.

Any sightings yet of JP climbing our mountain? Weather forecast out of Asheville tonight forecasted (for winter) normal temps and a bit drier than norm. Hope East Tennesse has more "white" in their winter forecast. Comments are closed.
