Another warm one!!!

5/12/2011

Well Allyson was right... it does feel like summer!  We reached 66 degrees yesterday.  This warm weather is helping to motivate everyone to get out and enjoy the mountain in their own way. I enjoyed a nice run after the llamas departed!  This morning when I woke it was already 46 degrees.  It's going to be another nice, warm day!  I hope each of you can get out and enjoy this wonderful day.  Today I will share with you a shot of sunset last night!

Those Warm Days of Summer ( Spring )

5/11/2011

69 degrees! That was the high yesterday. Any crew that had the afternoon off, were outside soaking up the vitamin D. It is hard to believe that a week ago it was snowing. The mountain is turning green with life.

I will be passing the blog over to Meredith today. Chris and I will be down for a few days. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning from Mt. LeConte

Good morning everyone! The day is going to be another beautiful day. The high yesterday was 63 with a low of 46. One more day until I pass the blog over to Meredith for a few days. It is time to go down to the land of plenty and enjoy what the low lands have to offer. I have been up here for over 4 1/2 weeks. I think I am ready for a little R&R. Enjoy your day and happy hiking.

Wildflowers on the Mountain

"Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night."  ~Rainer Maria Rilke

Trillium sulcatum forma albolutescens
The trillium are blooming on the mountain. The few we have around the lodge are coming to life. Chris and I hiked down Trillium trail a little way and found a ton of trillium in full bloom. It is invigorating to see the shrubs and trees coming to life on the top. The warm days of summer are so close.

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all of you mothers out there are having a wonderful day. LeConte seems to be a popular destination for families to spend the day hiking with their mom. We are crazy busy up here. The sun is playing peek-a-boo today. The high yesterday was 54. It does not seem to be getting that warm today. Have a great day.

" Life is a journey, not a destination." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Happy Birthday to My Amazing Husband

Chrissy has discovered she loves churning ice cream.
Today is starting out to be a great day. The sun is out and it appears to be warming up.  The clouds cleared away yesterday and left us with 44 degree temperatures. The low last night was 33.

Today is my husbands birthday. Chrissy helped me churn ice cream to go with his cake. It is the simple things on the mountain that make the crew happy. Home made ice cream is one of them.

Mother Nature's Shenanigans

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That is a picture of snow. Wednesday I was wearing a down jacket and snow boots. Thursday I was wearing a t-shirt and sitting barefoot in the grass. Today, it is back to layers. The high yesterday was 57 with a low of 27. It is currently 33 degrees. We have had clouds, snow, and now the sun is trying to come out. This just goes to show how unpredictable the weather can be in these mountains.

Warmer Weather Ahead

5/5/2011

The high yesterday was 31. The frost never melted. Our low last night was 21. Hopefully the temperatures will warm up a little more today. There are trillium around the lodge that are ready to bloom. I hope the frost did not kill them. I look forward to the arrival of the wildflowers every year.

Thank You Mother Nature

The joke is on us. We just thought spring was here. The thermometer says other wise. It was a lovely 25 degrees this morning. There is a light dusting on the ground. I don't think the trails should be impacted by this. There doesn't seem to be much ice on the ground. Yesterday was a breezy 59 degrees.

More Rain

5/3/2011

The wind is howling once again. The weather prediction is for storms this evening. The weather man is calling for cooler temperatures in the valley with 100% chance of rain. That sounds like a recipe for snow to me. I guess we will see what the morning brings. I will keep you posted.
