Hello down there! We are having another beautiful day on Mt. LeConte. I'm sure by now ya'll have heard about Alum Cave Trail closure. Don't let the closure stop ya'll from coming up to see us. We have four other beautiful trails to the top. There is Rainbow Falls Trail (6.5 miles), The Bullhead Trail (7 Miles), The Boulevard Trail (8 miles), and Trillium Gap Trail (6.5 miles). The weather has been perfect the last couple of days. Yesterday's high reached 55, and the low was 33 degrees. It is currently 57 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Peace
What a beautiful morning we are having up top! Yesterday the clouds cleared out before we were even done making camp! The temperature finally reached an acceptable number for a spring afternoon, hitting 52 at the highest. The overnight low was 34 and it is currently clear, gorgeous and 49. Yesterday was so nice, I headed off after lunch to Brushy Mountain and saw beautiful flowers blooming all the way. Saw plenty of hikers on the way, everyone excited that the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is reopened! Just in time too, don't forget that Alum Cave Trail closes tomorrow!
I'm headed back down the mountain this evening, but only for a few days. Everyone have a wonderful week! Hello, hello! Another chilly grey morning for us so far...but the sun is on its way and I believe we are going to have a beautiful afternoon! Unfortunately, it seems that the good weather is camera shy because every time I see it clearing up, I grab my camera and run outside just in time for another cloud to blow through. I suppose I'll just have to be patient and wait for the afternoon...
Yesterday's high only reached 39 and the low was 31, but it is already 40 as of now, so I think it will be a warmer day! Everyone enjoy the weather this weekend, but always keep in mind that in the mountains it can turn on a dime. Always pack for rain, just in case! Another reminder that Alum is closing on Monday, May 4! Visit http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/alum-cave-closure-faqs.htm for more info! Happy May Day from the land of perpetual winter! We got a light dusting of spring snow last evening and it is sticking around today. The high yesterday was only 41 and the low fell to a chilly 26. Currently it is only 27 and the sun is refusing to come and thaw us back out into spring. There isn't much snow on the ground, but it is a little slick so watch your step around camp and on the upper portions of the trails today. Another reminder that the Alum Cave trail closes on the 4th! Ya'll stay warm today...
